The students have the opportunity to complete an extra credit assignment that will be DUE the day of their semester exam. There are 4 different designs the students can choose from. If they wish to do several different designs then they must turn in only ONE.
The students can also use graph paper to make their design as well. Below are some examples. Below is the list of all assignments that have been taken for a grade and must be turned in by WEDNESDAY, May 13th.
All of the above assignments will be averaged together and counted as a test grade. You deadline to have all assignments turned in is WEDNESDAY, May 13th. During this project you have:
What you will do next is take all information that you have gathered and turn that into a presentation. You MUST have some kind of visual. The type of visual is totally up to you! Have fun with it! You must then present everything to your fellow classmates. I urge you to practice your presentation. Check for time, pronunciation, eye contact and tone. Make sure that your voice will be heard! Lastly, this presentation will count as your semester exam grade! It is work 15% of your final grade! BE PREPARED!!!! Almost finished!! Today you will receive a "Budget Worksheet." You will need to fill in your budget information. Please read each piece as you will see 2 types of Unexpected Life Circumstances. One says "COLLECT" and the other says "PAY." You should have kept everything that has been given to you. Today is the day that you will write your checks and update your check register. You will need to write a check for each transaction. Please watch the video below on how to write a check. This must be turned in with your project. HOMEWORK!!!
Fill in the numbers from your budget worksheet. To visually see just how much money you are spending, use the chart below and Goggle Sheets to create a circle graph on the back of the worksheet. Be sure to be neat and put appropriate labels.
Under the "Decimal Part of the Salary" tab put what you spent for each item and add it all up to find the total spent. You will need this number for the next column. Under the "Percent" tab you will need to divide each part by the total spent to find the percent that was spent. (Ex: What you spent for Gas divided by Total Spent) Once this is complete you will need to go to Create a Goggle Sheet. Enter each category that is listed and then put what you spent for each category in separate columns. Next, you will highlight the two columns MINUS the total. DO NOT highlight the total as it will give you an inaccurate circle graph. HOMEWORK!!! Lastly, take the circle graph you created, share it with me. It is time to find you some wheels!! Your budget for this will be 10% of your TOTAL budget. This was calculated on your SALARY WORKSHEET. We will be using Carfax.com for find a vehicle. You will need to first calculate what your budget is for a car. Make sure to read the directions on the front and the back of the page that you will get. The directions explain EXACTLY what you need to do. FOLLOW the directions! Once you have found a car that you like, it is time to calculate what the monthly payments will be. You will need to flip the page over. You will need to first figure out if you want to finance your vehicle for 5, 6, or 7 years. Most people can not afford to pay cash for a car, so they have to take out a loan for the amount of money owed and pay it back over a certain time period with INTEREST. Click the button below "EXAMPLE" to see an example of how to fill in the necessary information. Please use a calculator to expedite the calculations. When you calculate the monthly payment and find that the car you like is TOO expensive then you must repeat the process using more years(5, 6, or 7 years) to pay it off or find a cheaper vehicle. If you have 2 vehicles then you only need to do this once!! Just multiply your monthly payment by 2. HOMEWORK!!!!!
Click the button below. Today you will research and find a place to live that is within your budget. Your MAX budget for this will be 30% of your TOTAL monthly wages. You will calculate this by multiplying your total budget by 30%. This will need to be calculated FIRST, as this will dictate what you can afford. You will be looking at Rent.com. Type in the City/State that you wish to look and click search. You can look at the top of the page and narrow down your search. Remember to have your Life Scenario Card and Budget next to you. You MUST have the minimum number of rooms as stated on your Life Scenario Card. HOMEWORK!!!!
